Acorn’s management team comprises seasoned executives with
substantial life science industry experience ranging from start-ups
to global pharmaceutical giants. During their respective careers, each
person has participated in the building of pharmaceutical companies
and the development of numerous drugs that have been successfully brought
to market.
Alan J. Jacobs, M.D., Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Alan Jacobs is currently the
CEO and a co-founder of Acorn Biomedical, Inc. Dr. Alan Jacobs has
10 years of experience in drug and biologic product development.
Most recently, Dr. Jacobs was the Chief Medical Officer and Vice
President of Clinical Research at Stem Cells, Inc. Dr. Jacobs has
held prior management positions in clinical development at Titan
Pharmaceuticals (including a joint development program with Schering
AG), Layton Bioscience, and Elan Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure
at the aforementioned companies, he led several products through
the IND-enabling process and conducted first in-human and phase 2
clinical trials of new biologic entities and a novel drug/device
combination product. Dr. Jacobs earned his B.S. degree in Electrical
Engineering from Cornell and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
from Stanford, and received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University
of Pennsylvania.
Richard C. Bulman, Esq.
General Counsel
Mr. Bulman currently serves as the General Counsel for Acorn Biodical, Inc. Mr. Bulman is a corporate and technology lawyer with more than 20 years experience who has served in executive and legal positions with such organizations as KL/Gates (formerly Kirkpatrick & Lockhart), IVAX Corporation, American Lawyer Media, LLC, Akerman Senterfitt, Diversified Communications Industries, Ltd., Empire of America and the State of New York.
Charles J. Betlach, II, Ph.D.
Director
Mr. Betlach is currently
a Director of Concordia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and
a private investor. From 1991 – 1998,
Dr. Betlach was co-founder and Executive Vice President,
Research and Development of Sano Corporation. Prior
to Sano Corporation, Dr. Betlach held various research positions at
Key Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Schering-Plough Corporation.
